Counseling for Adults in Charlotte, NC
I am passionate about partnering with you in learning to live with greater emotional and physical health.
Through a therapeutic relationship characterized by non-judgement and trust, I will…
- Help you identify coping mechanisms learned early in life and distinguish between those that serve you well and those that get in the way of living more authentically in the present.
- Encourage you and equip you to practice different ways of treating yourself and interacting with others.
- Listen to you, understand your challenge from your unique perspective and empower you to problem-solve and cope.
- Teach you to recognize the emotions underneath the symptoms you experience as well as provide practical tools to address them.
Peace. It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Meet Anne Wilson Payne, MA, LCMHC, NCC
I began my career as a high school English teacher because I have always loved to read and found the practice of sharing literature with my students very gratifying.
However, I was increasingly drawn to connecting with my students on an individual basis and more and more aware of the impact of mental health struggles on their functioning. I became progressively curious about what factors promote mental wellness and what gets in the way of pursuing them.
Thus began a wonderfully challenging and fulfilling career as a psychotherapist.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two adult sons, riding my bike, binge-watching Netflix and taking my extremely energetic puppy Henry for long walks.
